Each generation of Sentinel has expanded the scale at which that intelligence can work.
The progression is much like the evolution from a solo musician, to an ensemble, to an entire orchestra—many individual components, each performing its own role, but coordinated as one.
The conductor:
Sentinel Core.
Playing the role of conductor is Sentinel Core, a dedicated platform that coordinates field equipment, manages observations, applies verification and notification policies, maintains equipment and service records, and presents results directly to customers using an intuitive, streamlined interface.
Unlike Mark II, which relied in part on a general-purpose external database service and other outside tools, Mark III is purpose-built around a new architecture developed to enable detections and alerts to be generated with greater reliability, speed, and flexibility.
Remote by design.
Adaptive by nature.
Mark III introduces extensive remote management and configurability throughout the field network. System behavior can be monitored and adjusted centrally, down to settings for individual cameras, allowing Sentinel installations to be optimized for the unique conditions at each site without requiring routine physical access.
It also includes an improved version of Sentinel’s Smart Adaptive Sensing technology, which continuously adjusts sensing sensitivity and other parameters in response to both environmental activity and detection results.
Rather than operating at one fixed level of sensitivity, each camera adapts intelligently to changing conditions in its own field of view, filtering repetitive environmental noise while remaining highly responsive to meaningful wildlife activity.

Best of all, Mark III adds a new dimension to Sentinel’s wildlife detection pipeline: concurrent still-image and video capture.
This addition allows the system to see not only what’s present at a moment in time, but also what happens over time.
Still images provide detailed visual evidence; video adds movement, gait, changing viewpoints, behavior, and features that may only become visible as an animal moves.
From isolated cameras
to connected sensing.
Connected sensing adds yet another dimension, allowing multiple components to operate as parts of a coordinated whole rather than as isolated cameras.
The new architecture enables Sentinel to progressively evaluate and cross-check wildlife observations, narrowing tens of thousands of daily samples down to the individual events that actually matter and then getting that information into the hands of customers in as immediate and frictionless a manner as possible so that they can act upon it.
Evidence that
keeps its history.
Importantly, greater automation doesn’t mean sacrificing transparency or accountability. Mark III is designed for complete traceability, from initial detection through final alert.
Each significant observation carries a continuous record of the evidence and decisions associated with it, including when and where it was captured, how and why it was classified, the results of successive evaluation and verification processes, and whether and when notifications and alerts were issued.
This creates an auditable chain from the original field observation to the information ultimately presented to the customer—particularly important when Sentinel is being used to support public-safety decisions.

These enhanced analytical and operational capabilities combine to make possible a new level of simplicity for the user. Customers don’t need to concern themselves with internal processing stages, learn how to use outside services, or verify potential bear detections.
A single Sentinel login provides access to an intuitive dashboard that distills the system’s complex operation into the information customers need: system health and current camera views; a history of identified wildlife observations and bear alerts; an inventory of installed equipment; and a detailed service history.
